Our Story: The Journey of IGD

Indische Gemeinde Düsseldorf e.V. (IGD) was founded in 2012 with a simple yet powerful mission: to create a home away from home for the Indian community in Düsseldorf. Over the years, IGD has grown into a vibrant cultural and social hub, providing a platform where Indian traditions, values, and heritage are celebrated and preserved. From organizing cultural events to offering support to newcomers, IGD has become a cornerstone of the community, fostering connections and mutual understanding between the Indian and German populations in the region.

Our journey began with a small group of dedicated individuals who recognized the need for a cohesive community space where Indian expatriates could come together, celebrate their shared heritage, and support one another. Today, IGD stands as a testament to their vision and hard work, having evolved into a prominent organization that plays a crucial role in promoting Indian culture, facilitating cultural exchange, and enriching the lives of those in the Indian diaspora.
